I’m joined by Luke Bolton in today’s episode. He founded a company called INN zero waste, a company that delivered zero waste products to your door. He learnt a lot from his experience and he shares all the lessons he learned and mistakes he made along the way.

Perspective

Shrinking Population

This is becoming a frequently discussed topic and one that everyone should know about.

Particularly in the first world, populations are shrinking pretty rapidly.

In theory, this would do wonders for the environment and so I hear you asking, what’s the big deal?

The big deal is that with a shrinking population comes a shrinking economy, fewer schools and fewer jobs in local communities.

China is facing the repercussions of their 1 child policy all those years ago and now there aren’t enough people to buy the products they produce to sustain the growth they want to achieve.

Another interesting point is that this rapid shrinking of the population could lead to the extinction of ideas and cultures.

For example, the Democratic left in the US reproduces under the replacement rate of 2 children per couple.

While the Republican Right is reproducing over this replacement rate. Purely based on reproduction, soon there will be more people voting Republican than Democrat.

We can apply this chain of thought to religions and races. The ones reproducing over 2 children per couple will persevere.

I’m not saying this is necessarily bad, but it could lead to a much less diverse human race.

I know there are many moral and financial considerations at play, but based purely on stats. We could see a very different human race in no time at all.

Tool

Framer

This tool is crazy.

It creates a functioning website for you in minutes.

You type in what kind of website you want to make, and what style and typography you prefer and it will spin something up.

You can then change all aspects of the site, including the images, the text and colours.

I think I say this almost every week, but you don’t have an excuse anymore.

If an idea pops into your head and you want to see if it has legs, spin up the sight and get started.

It gets me thinking. With all these done for tools at our disposal, the priority shifts to the delivery of quality goods and services.

A well-made site isn’t a good enough signal any more and consumer scepticism will creep in.

So remember, a good-looking site is just the beginning.

You can watch the video above to get a feel for how it works.

Consume (Read / Watch / Listen)

Fasting and Menstrual Cycles

I know this piece of content has nothing to do with business, but improving your health and relationships are both important.

I found this episode fascinating.

As a male, I’m ashamed to admit how little I know about menstrual cycles.

Throughout the cycle, a woman’s mood, how much energy she has and how she communicates change.

Knowing what stage of her cycle she’s in can change how you communicate in your relationships and help you be more understanding of behaviour you don’t understand.

In the episode, they also discuss how fasting can help heal your body, improve your diet and help with mental clarity.

I’ve been intermittent fasting and feel great and now I’m considering doing a few days to reset the body. The body’s ability to heal itself is fascinating, and it’s baffling how we’re in a state of constant poison with our current diets.

Obviously, be careful and consult a doctor.

This episode is packed with information I had no clue about. Definitely give it a listen/watch.

Concept

Web3

Explaining a concept like Web3 has changed drastically over the last year.

It’s a passion of mine, but I don’t see the necessity to explain it anymore.

It used to be a lot of jargon and complicated terminology designed to keep the newcomer confused and intimidated.

With bigger brands entering the space behind the scenes and most of the hyped projects fading away, we’re seeing the use cases shine through.

Most of how Web3 works doesn’t need to be known.

Most people don’t know how the TikTok algorithm works or how credit cards payments work when we just tap our card to pay (NFC.)

The point is Web3 did things backwards. The first builders in the space were so inspired and excited by the technology, that they built bare-bones applications to show off its use cases.

This was great for the users within the space who understood where the technology was going and what everyone was building towards. But not so great for anyone looking in.

These clunky UX apps meant people didn’t understand and didn’t see the value.

We’re seeing a shift where the UX is sleek and users don’t even know that blockchain tech is being used.

That’s where we need to go.

So what I’m saying is, don’t worry if you don’t understand Web3. It doesn’t really matter.

It’s going to make your life easier once those tools are user-friendly and enjoyable.

Till then, hang tight and keep playing with ChatGPT.
